House…anyone?
I’ll build a house for the DENR Secretary
If I’ll be lucky in the following years, and get rich let’s say by winning in mega lotto, I plan to build a house for the DENR Secretary during that time. I will be willing to waste the money I won for that house. I can spend millions of pesos for it.
Similarly, if in God’s will, I accidentally found a treasure, I am very willing to spend it for the same house. Even if I got rich through a legitimate business, I am still very willing to spend out of my business’ earnings just for his house. And if I got rich through my compensation, I am still very willing to spend my hard-earned money for this house. If he wishes, I’ll apply for work abroad so that I can immediately earn the amount needed to build it.
Provided: that the house to be built will be the official home and office of the Environment Secretary. And all succeeding secretaries will call it their home at the length of their term. Provided further that the house will be built at any of the following places: (a) at the foot of Sierra Madre beside any river at General Nakar, or Infanta of Quezon province; (b) beside any river in Barangay Villa Aurora of Aurora province; (c) at the foot of Sierra Madre in Barangay Paltic, Dingalan, Aurora; or (d) beside any river in Dinalungan, Casiguran and Dilasag towns of Aurora province.
Now that the rainy season has come, it is better if I can build the house right now. This is the best time for him to experience how to deal with landslides and floods caused by his approvals of logging concessions in these two provinces. I would love to see the house we will build to get buried in mud and rocks. I would love to see his properties eaten by the angry floodwaters. I would always pray that he remains alive, for him to see why the residents of these two provinces are crying foul every time he approves a logging concession. He can never know, unless he experienced it. I want him to understand that for every penny he receives from the loggers, there are always lives that are at stake.
The following six months are the worst months of the year for the flood-prone and landslide-prone areas. Floods and landslides that claim hundreds of lives about two and a half years ago are almost forgotten now, not by the residents, but those persons that are in-charge of the proper care of natural resources, particularly the environment secretary. I really don’t know how his mind is functioning that he has the soul to give go signal for logging operations in the Province of Aurora, despite the opposition of its residents. Let’s build a house for him, so that his once intelligent brain will function normally again.
