Who’s who?

Suave

The most popular Japson personality isn’t a genius nor a sports superstar. He is a simple plain drunk man. Please meet the Japson of the Year and of the Century… dandandandan… Yabut!

Yabut, as Barangay Quirino folks fondly call him, is the most popular drunkard in the barrio. There is a joke that his blood is no longer red, rather, a clear liquid called gin.

He is also called “takot sa moo…”, a shortened description that Yabut is “takot sa mu-naw” (afraid of lucid physical and mental condition with no influence of alcohol).

Yabut, a regular in all drinking sessions inside the barrio, has been known for his expression “good earth”, that the barrio people sometimes translate to “good arthic” (good drunkard). He is also the most popular among male kids in Abagatan of Quirino, as he circumsized many of them. And most important to note, Yabut is also popular among the dogs, as he might have eaten the most quantity of dog meat in all drinking sessions he attended.

The entrance of Yabut

Here is the catch… although the most popular, he is also the most obscure personality, technically. Many know him by face, by the way he talk and walk, and by the name Yabut given to him by a person no one knows who, but only a handlful know his real identity. Yabut’s real name is really hard to guess, unless you ask his brother and sisters of his true name.

Clue… his name sounds like his favorite vice.
Keep posted for another Japson personality that would be featured in this site.

  1. Juanito Silvestre Says:

His name is Artemio which also rhymes with my name Juanito. My last name is Silvestre and I am one of the many children of Leonardo Silvestre Sr. and the deceased Cecilia Japson. I practically grew up with my cousins in Quirino and I fondly remember one summer vacation that I stayed with the Fonaciers due to a broken arm which needed to be reset by a local “hilot”. The lady “hilot” had to pray in Latin before each session and I remember Yabut(he was young then but already showing some wild streaks in his character) used to imitate every word she says and we had a hard time trying to contain our laughter. Those were the days! I haven’t seen him and Boyet for a long time, and I guess we should just accept our cousins as they are. Ading, mabalin aya nga ag-post ka ti litrato ti nakalabas nga reunion? I would appreciate it very much. Regards to Mama Cesar and to everybody there.

  2. Algassim Lomboy Says:

What a coincidence this article may be. Who would expect that the lone representative of “INANG ISANG” clan last JAPSON YEARLY REUNION will be featured online. But unfortunately even if all INANG ISANG’S sibling, grandsons and granddaughters will be be part of next years Reunion “YABUT” Artemio Japson Fonacier will not be there anymore. He passed away this afternoon January 21, 2010 at around 5:00 pm in UST hospital. He left us full of memories, bad and good which will be cherish by every quirinian especially the JAPSON CLAN. May the LORD GOD BLESS YOU SOUL

    Uncle we will miss you…
