Japson 13th Family Reunion

It was 1997 when the family started to conduct the annual reunion. (Please see related post: http://myjapson.wordpress.com/2008/12/06/the-next-big-japson-event/) Ma’am Flor and his husband Maok initiated the event that would become an annual occassion for the clan.

Then, again, last December 27, 2009, at the residence of Uncle Ano, the family celebrated the 13th reunion. (It was wrongfully quoted by the speakers that the event was the 12th one. It was in fact 13th, because we must count in the 1997 event.)

The event pushed through despite the unfortunate death of our beloved Auntie Belen last February. The support of the De Vera family as a host is really overwhelming, with some of the family member based in different locations made an effort to go home to grace the occassion. Manong Allan who is based in New Zealand arrived last December 24, together with Dominic who is based in Makati. Manong Bobot went home last December 26.

It is also worthwhile to note that Vice Mayor Amado Geneta managed to attend the reunion, although late. He is a far relative of Japson, and now that the election is coming, he attended the reunion. His last attendance was in 2006, in time for the 2007 election. Good move, Vice!
